Individual Therapy in Stratford-upon-Avon and Online
Clients who come to therapy often arrive with the sense that something in their life needs attention, even when it is difficult to explain exactly what that is. You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, stuck in a pattern that keeps repeating, or simply aware that the way you have been coping no longer feels enough.
Ego Therapy is based in Stratford-upon-Avon, with individual psychotherapy available in person and online. Online sessions can provide a consistent and private space to think wherever you are based, while in-person appointments offer the option of working together locally.
What brings people to individual therapy?
There is no single reason to begin therapy. Some people come with a clear concern. Others arrive with questions that have built gradually over time.
Therapy may be useful when you are trying to make sense of:
- anxiety, stress or feeling emotionally overwhelmed;
- low mood, self-doubt or a loss of confidence;
- relationship patterns that keep repeating;
- difficulty setting boundaries or saying what you need;
- loss, change, endings or major life transitions;
- identity, belonging or the feeling that you have lost touch with yourself;
- feeling rejected, overlooked or without a voice;
- a sense of being stuck, even when life looks fine from the outside.
You do not need to fit neatly into a category before starting. Therapy can begin with the question you already have, or simply with the feeling that something deserves more attention.
What therapy can offer
My role is not to hand you a set of instructions for how to live. It is to help you look more closely at your experience, notice the patterns that have become familiar, and understand how earlier ways of protecting yourself may still be shaping your life now.
That process can make it easier to recognise your own wants, needs, hopes and fears, and to develop more compassion for the parts of yourself that have been difficult to understand or accept.
Before entering therapy, you might feel embarrassed, unsure or lost. You do not need to arrive with the right words. We can begin with what you already know and work from there.
An integrative approach to psychotherapy
Alex Iga Golabek is an integrative psychotherapist. Integrative psychotherapy draws on more than one therapeutic tradition rather than assuming that every person should be understood in the same way. The work is shaped around you, your history, your relationships and what is happening in your life now.
The aim is not simply to reduce a difficult feeling in isolation, but to understand the wider story around it and what may help you move forward with greater clarity.

Starting therapy
If you are thinking about individual therapy, you do not need to decide everything before getting in touch. A first conversation can be used to talk about what has brought you here, ask questions and consider whether working together feels right.
